Gemeinsam mit Tsuganashi und Oigami attackiert Hotaru die Schule von Takeshi und seinen Freunden. Sie sind auf der Suche nach Mui und haben den Auftrag, sie gefangen zu nehmen. Als sie den Schauplatz der Kämpfe nicht schnell genug ausmachen kann, fällt sie Kazumi in die Arme und attackiert ihn intuitiv. Sie ist somit der Grund, warum Kazumi Magie einsetzen kann.

Generell scheint er sehr angetan von ihr. Nicht im romantischen Sinne, vielmehr als eine zweite kleine Schwester, denn Hotaru hat ein äußerst kindliches Erscheinungsbild.
