Die Ehe zwischen Mimi und ihrem Ehemann bestand von Anfang an nur auf dem Papier. Eine wirkliche Liebe der beiden fand nie statt, was auch daran lag, dass ihre Heirat von ihren Eltern arrangiert wurde. Obwohl Mimi trotzdem versuchte eine gute Ehefrau für ihn zu sein, schenkte er ihr weder als Frau Beachtung noch zollte er ihrem Tun als Ehefrau Respekt, stattdessen zählte für ihn nur die Arbeit. Als Mimi eine Affäre mit Kou anfängt, nimmt er es einfach hin, sagt ihr jedoch, dass das Konsequenzen haben wird, womit er meint, dass sie bei ihrer Familie geächtet sein wird, da sie die Traditionen bricht.
