Yuu Ashino ist nicht nur Aratas Nachbarin in ihrer Heimatstadt in der Präfektur Fukui, sondern auch seine Klassenkameradin und Kindheitsfreundin. Sie ist eine fürsorgliche Person und erklärt auch, warum Arata so gereizt auf das Thema Karuta reagierte, nachdem ihn Chihaya und Taichi bei ihrem Besuch damit konfrontiert hatten. Um Arata vor weiterem Gram zu beschützen, gibt sie den beiden auch die Karuta-Karten zurück, die sie absichtlich in Aratas Haus hinterlassen haben. In ihrer Grundschulzeit hatte Yuu ebenfalls Karuta gespielt, aber einen Club mit Arata wollte sie damals nicht gründen.
