Taizou Kirihara ist der Begründer von Kirihara Industries und leitet zudem die Kyoto-Gruppe. Er besitzt eine Mine, wo Sakuradit (Energiequelle der Knightmares) abgebaut wird, wodurch er reich wurde. Nachdem Zero ihm seine Identität offenbart, unterstützt Taizou die Schwarzen Ritter sowohl mit finanziellen, als auch mit militärischen Hilfsmitteln.

Während der Zeit als Genbu Kururugi noch Premierminister war, nahm er im Hintergrund ebenfalls großen Einfluss auf die Politik. Später wurde ihm bei der Invasion Japans durch Britannien Verrat vorgeworfen, weil er als deren Komplize galt.
