Da ihr geliebter Volleyballclub aufgrund von Mitgliedermangel aufgelöst wurde, folgte Akebi Sasaki ihren Freundinnen auf der Suche nach einer neuen Sportart, mit der sie sich die Zeit bis zur Wiederauferstehung ihres alten Clubs vertreiben können. So gerät sie in die Panzertruppe der Ooarai Mädchenschule und nimmt bald, obwohl ihre Spezialität eher beim Blocken liegt, am Geschütz des Type 89 Platz. Doch das Panzerfahren entfaltet durch die beispiellose Siegesserie, die die Schule erringt, bald einen Sog, der es zu mehr als nur einem bloßen Zeitvertreib macht. Und obwohl Akebi weiterhin mit ihren Freundinnen in den Pausen Volleyball spielt, bekommt man fast das Gefühl, dass sie eine neue Lieblingssportart gefunden hat.
