John Whittard ist ein begabter englischer Pianist, der seit einigen Monaten in Frankreich weilt. Sein Aufenthalt in Frankreich inspiriert ihn jedoch nicht, so dass er in einer Schaffenskrise steckt. Der Dandelion Troupe gegenüber benimmt er sich sehr überheblich, obwohl er sie in Wahrheit um ihre Freude an der Musik beneidet. John hat außerdem Angst vor Katzen, weswegen seine erste Begegnung mit Cream und Chocolat wahrhaft umwerfend ist.
Nach und nach hilft ihm die Bekanntschaft mit Nadja seine Krise zu überwinden und er kann wieder Erfolge als Musiker erzielen.
