Weil er auf der regennassen, ziemlich ramponierten Straße mit seinem Motorrad zu schnell unterwegs gewesen ist, konnte er es nicht mehr unter Kontrolle halten und verunglückte tödlich. Für seine Mutter ein ziemlicher Schock, den sie nicht verkraften konnte, ist er doch ihr Liebling gewesen. Tatsuya hasste allerdings seine Mutter, da sie zu sehr auf ihn fixiert gewesen ist, ihn nicht selber Entscheidungen treffen lassen konnte und das ganze Familienleben sehr darunter litt. Vor seinem Tod besuchte er deshalb die Internetseite von Jigoku Shoujo, im festen Entschluss sie zur Hölle fahren zu lassen.
