Genkai ist die Meisterin des Reidoha-ryu und einer der fünf stärksten Kämpferinnen der Welt. Sie hat keine Kinder und lebt alleine in einem Tempel im Wald. Doch wegen ihres hohen Alters entscheidet sie sich ein Turnier abzuhalten, um dadurch entscheiden zu lassen, wer ihr Nachfolger und Erbe wird.
