In ihrer Mittelschulzeit gehörte Futaba zu den beliebtesten Mädchen. Durch ihre schüchterne Art und ihr niedliches Aussehen kam sie bei den Jungen sehr gut an. Jedoch hatte diese Popularität ihre Schattenseiten. Die Mädchen in ihrer Klasse, von Neid zerfressen, begannen sie zu meiden, sodass sie viel alleine war und schwer unter dieser Einsamkeit litt. So begann Futaba, die Jungen für ihre Trauer verantwortlich zu machen und diese dafür zu hassen und nahm sich vor, fortan alles dafür zu tun, dass diese sie nie wieder als süß bezeichnen würden. So wurde sie zu der Futaba, die sie fortan vorgibt zu sein.
