Mikihisa Asakura ist der Ehemann von Keiko und der Vater von Yoh.

Bevor Mikihisa Schamane wurde, war er Mitglied einer kleinen Musikband bis er Keiko kennen lernte und sich mit ihr verlobte. Nach dem Tod seiner Frau entschloss er sich Yoh in die Obhut seines Vaters Yohmei zu geben und nach dem Mörder seiner Frau zu suchen. Mikihisa ist eine wirklich hilfsbereite, fürsorgliche Person, gibt sich jedoch die Schuld an dem Tod seiner Frau, so dass er sich emotional zurück zog.

Er ist körperlich überaus stark und betreibt ausgiebiges Bergsteigen als Hobby. Als Medium für seine beiden Schutzgeister Imari und Shigaraki (zwei Füchse) nutzt er traditionelle Gebetssteine. Im Oversoul-Zustand erlauben sie es ihm sogar zu fliegen.
