Eriol ist die Wiedergeburt von Clow Reed, der Schöpfer der Clow Cards. Sein wahres Alter ist nicht bekannt, da er sich selbst als 10-jähriger betitelt. Ursprünglich kommt er aus England und ist ein Austauschschüler, der in Sakuras Klasse geht.

Eriol kann sehr gut kochen und Basketball spielen. Außerdem spielt er Piano und ist künstlerisch begabt. Von Anfang an steht er mit Shaoran im Konflikt, da dieser ihn für sehr gefährlich hält. Außerdem sieht er in Eriol eine Gefahr für Sakura. Er lebt zusammen mit seinen Beschützern Ruby Moon und Spinel Sun im Haus von Clow Reed.
