Sakiko ist die Mutter von Akira und Shinobu Okudaira. Sie pflegt zu beiden eine sehr enge Beziehung und ist als Mutter unheimlich bemüht, obwohl sie auch sehr streng sein kann. Dabei nimmt Sakiko vor ihren Kindern auch kein Blatt vor den Mund, auch wenn ihre Ziele in den meisten Fällen immer darauf hinauslaufen, ihre Kinder zu unterstützen. Sakiko ist des weiteren langjährige Freundin von Fumi Manjoumes Mutter Yoshie. Die beiden sehen sich nach vielen Jahren wieder, als die Familie Okudaira zurück in ihre Heimat zieht.
