Masahiko Kida ist der Leiter der Rechts- und Planungsabteilung der Yotsuba Group.
Er ist ein recht ruhiger und gelassener Mann, der allerdings sehr auf seinen eigenen Vorteil aus ist. Nebenbei verwaltet Kida die Finanzen der Meetings, also der sogenannten »Todes-Konferenzen«. In diesen Treffen hält er sich allerdings meistens zurück und hat seine Gedanken nur bei seinen Geldern.
Da Masahiko über diese bestimmt, handelt er auch das Honorar mit Coil aus, der sich als »L« ausgibt. Auch bestimmt er über die Bezahlung von Kira, der für sie die Vollstreckungen durchführt. Allerdings wird er nervös, als Coil sein Honorar erhöht und schließlich wird durch sein Handeln Verdacht erregt, wer Kira sein könnte.
