Tonpu ist ein alter Freund von Cho Hakkai und Sha Gojyo. Kurze Zeit nachdem seine Freunde die Heimatstadt verlassen hatten, um nach Westen zu reisen, wurde Tonpu Soldat und trat der Anti-Yokai-Spezialeinheit „Fan Ron“ bei.
Seine Freundschaft bedeutet Tonpu sehr viel und jedes mal, wenn er mit ihnen zusammen ist, schäumt er vor Fröhlichkeit geradezu über. Doch sein neu entwickelter Hass gegen die Yokai, steht seiner Freundschaft manchmal im Wege.
