Obwohl Arata auf dieselbe Mittelschule ging wie Kotarou, hatten die beiden nicht wirklich viel Kontakt miteinander. Erst als er Kotarou später im Trainingslager von Guardian wiedertraf entstand sowas wie eine erste Freundschaft, zumal sie auch in ein Team gesteckt wurden. Auch wenn sich die beiden zunächst schwer miteinander taten, freundet sich Arata doch recht schnell mit Kotarou an.

Als Arata seine Ausbildung bei Guardian erfolgreich absolviert hat, wird er für die Überwachung von Kazamatsuri eingeteilt.
