Rins langjährige Freundin, die sich mit ihr auch ein Zimmer im Studentenwohnheim teilt. Sie kennt deren ganze Lebens- und Leidensgeschichte und ist immer für sie da, wenn sie mal nicht so gut drauf ist. Shouko findet es zwar schade, dass ihre Freundin mit dem Ballett-Tanzen aufgehört hat - denn sie findet, ihre Verletzung hätte sie nicht entmutigen müssen - doch hat sie deren Entscheidung akzeptiert.

Shouko ist eine wahre Frohnatur und sehr kontaktfreudig, jemand, der äußerst beliebt an der Uni ist und schnell Freundschaft mit anderen schließt, die aber auch ein wenig temperamentvoll erscheint. Sie kann allerdings auch sehr nachdenklich werden. Ein auffälliges Merkmal an ihr sind die hervorblitzenden spitzen Eckzähne. Im Anime hat Shouko keine Probleme damit, dass Rin dem Rideback-Club beitritt. Im Manga jedoch verabscheut sie diesen.
