Corporal Elsa Ebbers war ein Mitglied der Ingenieurs-Crew des deutschen Kriegsmarine-U-Bootes U-800, doch weil die Gestapo herausfand, dass sie Jüdin ist, arrangierte Captain Nina Störtebeker, um sie in Sicherheit zu bringen, ihren Transfer auf die Unebi. Sowohl Executive Officer Kuki, als auch Chief Engineer Kobayakawa kümmern sich um sie, aber ihre Loyalität gilt einzig der Geruchsfetischistin Captain Nina. Aufgrund ihrer Erfahrung auf dem U-Boot, ist sie versiert im Umgang mit Dieselmotoren und gehört nun zur Ingenieurs-Crew der Unebi.

Anmerkung:
Elsa Ebbers wird in der englischen Übersetzung gelegentlich auch mit „Corporal“ angesprochen, der „Corporal“ ist kein Dienstgrad der Marine, das Äquivalent des Marinedienstgrades ist „Petty Officer“, was bei der deutschen Kriegsmarine einem „Maat“ entspricht.
