Hiroko Funatsumaru ist eine Schülerin im dritten Jahr an der Kaihou Academy und die Leiterin des „Aoumi“-Wohnheims auf dem Campus der Academy, wo auch Mari und ihre Freundinnen leben. Hiroko ist zwanglos, umgänglich und offenherzig und macht sich keine Gedanken wegen kleiner Regelverstöße im Schlafsaal, nur gelegentlich setzt sie den Bewohnerinnen ihre Grenzen. Ihre Familie ist sehr wohlhabend und im Besitz eines großen Fischereibetriebs und einer eigenen Fischfangflotte.
