Manabe ist der ehemalige Anführer von Monstro Petro, hat dieses Kapitel aber abgeschlossen und möchte nichts mehr damit zu tun haben. Nun geht er einer regelmäßigen und stinknormalen Arbeit nach und kümmert sich vor allem um seine Frau und den gemeinsamen Sohn - die vermutlich auch der Hauptgrund sind, weswegen er ausgestiegen ist. Damals hat er auch den jungen Satoshi Batista kennengelernt, wobei aus Sicht von diesem die Erinnerung an diese Begegnung nicht gerade als schön zu bezeichnen ist, vergessen hat er sie demnach auch nie.
