Cherrys richtiger Name, Sakurambou, bedeutet wörtlich »Kirsche«, die Kanji können jedoch auch als »verrückter Mönch« gelesen werden, was eine treffende Beschreibung seiner Persönlichkeit ist. Er bevorzugt es Cherry genannt zu werden und behauptet von sich starke spirituelle Kräfte zu besitzen.
