Im Laufe der Zeit ist aus der kindlichen Hinami eine wunderschöne junge Frau geworden, welche wesentlich reservierter, kühler und überlegter agiert als vor wenigen Jahren. Nachdem ihr guter Freund Ken Kaneki verschwand, hat sie ihre naive, kindliche, warme Seite abgelegt, um erwachsener zu wirken. Ihre Liebe und Loyalität gegenüber ihren Freunden ist jedoch ungebrochen. Ihre nun dunklere Weltsicht ohne Ken wirken sich auch auf ihr neues Umfeld aus. So tritt sie nun an der Seite von Ayato Krishima im Phönixbaum auf und fürchtet weder Verletzung noch Tod. Jedoch sträubt sie sich, selbst handgreiflich zu werden und jemandem ein Leid zuzufügen. Ein Manko, für welches sie sich selbst sehr schämt und es, als ihre große Schwäche ansieht, was ihre umgedrehte Weltsicht beweist.

Nach der Rückkehr von Ken Kaneki schließen sie und die Reste des mittlerweile zerschlagenen Phönixbaumes sich ihm und seiner neuen Organisation Goat an und verehren ihn als ihren König.
