Amon ist nach seiner Entführung durch die Ghule des Phönixbaumes ziemlich verändert. Aus dem einst so höflichen, diplomatischen und reservierten Ermittler mit dem großen Gerechtigkeitssinn ist nun selber einer der Kreaturen geworden, für deren Bekämpfung er sich so stark engagierte. Als solcher ist Amon nun im Konflikt zwischen seinen ghuischen Trieben und den menschlichen Werten der Ethik und Moral. Durch den Tod seines Mentors Kureo Mado hat er eine Psychose entwickelt, die Angst, nicht pünktlich zu erscheinen und wieder jemanden zu verlieren. So setzt er seine ghulischen Kräfte zum Schutz jener Personen ein, die er liebt.
