Shinobu Senge ist die Kellnerin im Izakaya Nobu. Sie ist die Tochter einer Familie welche in Kyoto ein alteingesessenes Restaurant, mit dem Namen Yukitsuna, führt. Ihre Familie zwingt sie eine arrangierte Ehe mit dem Sohn eines erfolgreichen Bankvorsitzenden einzugehen, um so das Restaurant vor dem finanziellen Ruin zu retten. Auf Grund dessen läuft Shinobu von zu Hause weg und trifft dabei auf Nobuyuki Yazawa, welcher das Restaurant Yukitsuna verlassen hat. Daraufhin entschließt sie sich im Izakaya Nobu zu arbeiten.
