Die Mastzelle ist ein weißes Blutkörperchen. Als Teil des Immunsystems setzt sie Chemikalien wie Histamine und Leukotriene als Stimulus für eine übermäßige Produktion von IgE frei (Immunglobulin E, ein Antikörper, der von B-Zellen produziert wird).

Sie ist eigentlich eine ruhige Zelle. Trotz ihres Aussehens kann sie aber auch sehr wild werden, wenn sie beispielsweise unglücklich ist, besonders wenn ihre Arbeit nicht gewürdigt wird. Sie ist manchmal unsicher, da sie Angst hat, jemandem Ärger zu bereiten, wenn sie es in ihrem Job mal wieder übertreibt.
Mastzelle wird sehr wütend, wenn die Leute sie Fettzelle nennen, so wie es B-Zelle gerne einmal macht. Sie schreit dann und meint, dass das B in seinem Namen wohl für Bonehead (Dummkopf) stehen müsse.
