Haji begegnete Saya erstmals im Kindesalter, als Joel Goldschmidt I. ihn auf sein Anwesen holt und Saya vorstellt, mit der Intention, dass beide sich anfreunden sollen. Ganz so harmonisch verläuft ihre Annäherung allerdings nicht, denn während Saya ihn eher wie einen Diener behandelt, lässt Haji sich dies nicht gefallen und hat seinen eigenen Kopf. Er scheut sich auch nicht ihr seine Meinung ins Gesicht zu sagen. Es wird von ihm selbst weiterhin angedeutet, dass er nicht freiwillig dort ist, sondern von irgendwoher mit Geld ausgelöst wurde.
