Himeno Awayuki ist ein sechzehnjähriges Mädchen. Nach dem Tod ihrer Mutter und der Wiederverheiratung ihres Vaters gerät Himeno in ein hochklassiges gesellschaftliches Leben, in dem sie Probleme hat sich anzupassen, da sie sowohl von ihrer neuen Familie als auch von Gleichaltrigen in der Schule ausgegrenzt wird. Als Himenos Entfremdung zunimmt, trifft sie Hayate und die anderen Leafe Knights, die ihr sagen, dass sie die Prétear ist, die benötigt wird, um die Welt zu retten. Sie entwickelt Gefühle für Hayate.
