Shirou Tanaka ist ein Mitglied im Archery Club der Shinyo Academy. Im Gegensatz zu Akio Kimura und Naoko Kamikishiro hat Shirou eine ernsthafte und fleißige Persönlichkeit und ist sehr darum bemüht, die Regeln der Schule zu befolgen. Er ist ein eher ängstlicher junger Mann und läuft bei der ersten Begegnung mit dem Mantikor einfach davon. Erst später besinnt er sich seiner Stärke und ist in der Lage mit seinen Fähigkeiten im Bogenschießen einiges an Schaden anzurichten.
