Ironblood bildet zusammen mit dem Sakura Empire die Allianz der Red Axis, welche die Technologie der Sirens studieren und für ihre Zwecke nutzen wollen und sich so gegen ihre ehemaligen Verbündeten Eagle Union und Royal Navy der Azur-Lane-Fraktion stellen. Schiffe der Ironblood tragen das Kürzel KMS für Kriegsmarineschiff.

Ironblood basiert auf der real existierenden Kriegsmarine, der Seestreitkräfte der deutschen Wehrmacht in den Jahren 1935 bis 1947. Die Abkürzung KMS wurde dabei nie offiziell verwendet.
