Andou Natsu, deren Traum es ist, Pa­tis­si­è­re zu werden, verliert ihren Job nach dem plötzlichen Tod des Geschäftsinhabers. Sie geht nach Tokio, um dort als Konditorin anzufangen, aber sie hat die Zeit der Neueinstellungen verpasst und es sind keine freien Anstellungen mehr zu finden. Dann trifft sie zum ersten Mal auf die japanische Confiserie »Mangetsudo«. Diese wird von den Veteranen Umekichi, Takezo und Mitsuko geführt, und wie es der Zufall will, sind sie auf der Suche nach Aushilfskräften. Nach einigen Ereignissen ergibt es sich, dass sie im »Mangetsudo« zu arbeiten anfängt. Obwohl sie nur für die Bedienung der Kunden zuständig ist, beginnt sie sich auch für die japanische Confiserie zu interessieren. Da sie anfangs nur im Kuchenverkauf gearbeitet hat, ist noch alles ganz neu für sie. Doch nach und nach wird sie immer mehr in die tiefe und akkurate Welt der japanischen Confiserie hineingezogen.
