Wegen der stark sinkenden Geburtenrate in Japan, lässt sich die Regierung zu einem extremen Plan hinreißen. Dieser Plan wird an der High School durchgeführt, welche auch Haru besucht. Den Schülern werden zwei Optionen gegeben. Option 1: Möglichst schnell einen Partner finden. Option 2: Sterben. Durch diese »Friss oder Stirb«-Taktik der Regierung Japans haben die Schüler keine andere Wahl als einen Partner zu suchen.

Die wohl einzige, die sich darüber freut ist Haru’s verrückte Verehrerin Hotaru, die so hofft ihrem Geliebten endlich näher zu kommen. Unglücklicherweise steht dieser nur auf virtuelle Frauen. Wie viele andere Mitschüler auch, hat er nämlich einen, nicht ganz so geringen, Makel, was die Partnersuche erschwert. Somit sind diese Schüler gezwungen, die eigenen Makel zu überwinden und einen Partner zu finden, um zu überleben.
