Per il piccolo Tsugio, ragazzino sensibile e pauroso, l’unico rifugio dai bulli della sua scuola sembra essere la lettura del manga di «Astro Boy» (Tetsuwan Atom). Quando Tsugio adotta un gattino abbandonato, gli viene quindi naturale dargli il nome dell’eroe robot. Ma in seguito allo strano incontro con una coppia di alieni, in luna di miele sulla Terra, il micio viene dotato sul serio degli straordinari poteri del personaggio dei fumetti con il quale condivide il nome. La Terra, e soprattutto il suo padroncino, hanno ora un nuovo e invincibile difensore: il potente Atom Cat!
