Die Geschichte beginnt mit dem Tod von Hikaru Mikado. Der Junge war ein natürlicher Charmeur, ein »Harem König«, der allerdings keine männlichen Freunde hatte. Als er stirbt, wird er zu einem Geist, der jedoch von Koremitsu Akagi gesehen werden kann. Koremitsu wirkt durch seinen bösen Blick und durch sein rotes Haar wie ein Rüpel, obwohl er vom Herzen her nett ist. Hikaru bittet ihn um einen Gefallen. Koremitsu soll seiner Freundin Aoi sieben Geschenke zu ihrem siebzehnten Geburtstag machen. Diese Bitte wird akzeptiert, weswegen Koremitsu hart daran arbeitet, diese Bitte auch zu erfüllen.
