Im Alter von drei Jahren wurde Kokoro Minai in einen Verkehrsunfall verwickelt und erblindete dabei, doch während ihrer Mittelschulzeit wurde sie operiert und erhielt ihr Augenlicht zurück. Zwar ist sie nun zwei Jahre älter als ihre Mitschüler und kommt sich manchmal wie eine Außenseiterin vor, doch das dämpft ihre Lebensfreude keineswegs.

Als sie eines Tages voller Elan das Schuldach betritt, findet sie dort den mysteriösen Shin Kunimi, umgeben von etlichen Vögeln, und ist so fasziniert, dass sie spontan dem Kochclub beitritt, nur um ihn wiedersehen zu können. Shin, dem man sogar psychische Kräfte nachsagt, fühlt sich allerdings auch zu Kokoro hingezogen, doch einer möglichen Beziehung steht ein Problem im Wege: Shin will partout nicht, dass ihn irgendjemand auch nur leicht berührt …
