In dieser Welt ist jedes Kind unter dem Zeichen eines Gottes geboren. Manche Götter sind stärker, manche schwächer. Diejenigen, die unter einem schwachen Gott geboren werden, existieren kaum gesellschaftlich. Sie dürfen nicht zur Oberschule und müssen sich nach der Mittelschule einen Job suchen. An Oberschulen wird den Schülern gezeigt, wie sie sich die Kräfte ihres Gottes zunutze machen. Diese haben eines gemeinsam: Sie können gegen den richtigen Preis Wünsche erfüllen. Leerang hat einst die Zeit für ein paar Sekunden zurückgedreht und zahlte schrecklich dafür. Nun muss er an eine Oberschule gelangen, um zu lernen, wie er die Kraft seines Katzengottes noch einmal nutzen kann.
