Haru × Kiyo (2013)

Koharu Miyamoto loves her ordinary life with her ordinary friends, but her situation really isn’t: at the age of 15, she is already 178 centimetres tall! Worse still, although Koharu towers over almost all her classmates, her growth doesn’t seem to be over yet. Already called a “giant” by some at her school, she doesn’t really take the subject of relationships seriously anymore. She doesn’t have much experience in this topic anyway; after all, she hasn’t talked to a guy outside the family for a year.

Nevertheless, she decides to put a love letter in the shoe box of Mikawa, who is, of all people, the school crush par excellence. Being caught by the rather short Kiyoshiro Minetu during the act, she promptly escapes. No sooner does she realise the naivety of her plan than she is horrified to discover that Kiyoshiro, who found her letter, has apparently already “delivered” it – or so he claims. Poor Koharu is almost burned out because not only does she seem to have embarrassed herself to the bone in front of her crush, Mikawa, but he also seriously wants her to be his girlfriend!

Unfortunately, the initial joy dies in the bud because Mikawa seems to be more interested in his supposed childhood friend. Kiyoshiro, on the other hand, is arrogant, unfriendly, at times cold and seems to have no romantic interest in girls, yet he has tried to warn Koharu about Mikawa. A rather strange bond develops between the two people of such different heights, but will it eventually become something more?

Koharu Miyamoto liebt ihr normales Leben mit ihren normalen Freundinnen. Ihre Situation ist es aber eigentlich nicht: Mit ihren 15 Jahren ist sie bereits 178 Zentimeter groß! Schlimmer noch: Obwohl Koharu fast alle Mitschüler überragt, scheint ihr Wachstum noch nicht beendet zu sein. Von etlichen an ihrer Schule bereits als »Riese« bezeichnet, nimmt sie das Thema Beziehung eigentlich schon nicht mehr ernst. Erfahrungen darin sind ohnehin Mangelware, schließlich hat sie seit einem Jahr mit keinem Kerl außerhalb der Familie gesprochen.

Und trotzdem beschließt sie, ausgerechnet Mikawa, dem Schulschwarm schlechthin, einen Liebesbrief ins Schuhfach zu stecken. Bevor sie aber ihren Plan vollenden kann, wird sie vom recht klein geratenen Kiyoshiro Mineta überrascht und nimmt prompt Reißaus. Im Nachhinein sieht sie die Naivität ihres Vorhabens ein und ist froh, es nicht durchgezogen zu haben. Allerdings muss sie entsetzt feststellen, dass sie ihren Brief bei der Flucht verloren hatte und Kiyoshiro diesen doch »zugestellt« hat – oder so behauptet er. Der armen Koharu brennen jedenfalls fast die Sicherungen durch, denn nicht nur scheint sie sich vor ihrem Schwarm Mikawa bis auf die Knochen blamiert zu haben, sondern der will sie auch noch ernsthaft als seine feste Freundin haben!

Nur leider wird das frische Glück im Keim erstickt, denn Mikawa scheint wohl mehr Interesse an seiner vermeintlichen Kindheitsfreundin zu haben als an ihr. Kiyoshiro hingegen ist arrogant, unfreundlich, zuweilen kalt wirkend und scheint an Mädchen kein romantisches Interesse zu verspüren. Aber dennoch hat er versucht, Koharu vor Mikawa zu warnen! Zwischen den beiden so unterschiedlich großen Menschen entsteht eine ziemlich merkwürdige Bindung, aber wird daraus irgendwann mehr werden?

Koharu è una liceale che, a causa della sua statura fuori dalla norma, viene chiamata “il gigante dal cuore tenero”. In tutta risposta ha sviluppato un senso di inadeguatezza che la porta a rifuggire i legami affettivi, in special modo con i ragazzi. Ma nonostante la sua freddezza apparente, neanche lei è immune alle frecce di Cupido... Koharu si è presa una cotta per Hikawa, il ragazzo più popolare della scuola, che contro ogni previsione accetta subito di mettersi con lei! In realtà lui frequenta anche un’altra ragazza, e la cosa finisce sotto gli occhi di Mineta, lo studente più brillante della scuola, che consiglia subito alla compagna di lasciarlo. Koharu ha perso un amore ma ha trovato un vero amico... o forse qualcosa di più?!
