Il nonno di Shunpei Closer è un uomo molto bizzarro. Viaggia intorno al mondo alla scoperta di grandi segreti, tornando in Giappone solo di tanto in tanto per raccontare al nipote le sue mille rocambolesche avventure. Prima di partire per il suo ultimo viaggio alla volta dell’Africa, il nonno dona a Shunpei uno strano pupazzo a forma di orso, di nome Hyde, come regalo per il suo settimo compleanno.
