Ein großer Dämonenbär, genannt Akakabuto, hat den Futago Pass übernommen. Der Akita-Inu-Welpe Gin wird schon in jungen Jahren zu einem „Bärenhund“ trainiert, verlässt dann jedoch seinen Besitzer Daisuke, um sich einem Rudel wilder Hunde anzuschließen, welches von Riki geleitet wird und gegen Akakabuto kämpfen will. Damit sie gegen ihn bestehen können, schickt Riki seine Hunde aus, um in ganz Japan nach neuen männlichen Rekruten zu suchen. Dabei müssen sie viele Schwierigkeiten überwinden, bei denen Gin oft über sich hinauswächst, damit sie am Ende ihr Ziel erreichen können.
