Auf Drängen seines Lehrers stimmt Narasaki zu, die Schulbibliothek und damit auch den Problemschüler Terashima, der dort eine Strafe absitzt, zu beaufsichtigen. Sehr zu Narasakis Erleichterung, stellt sich seine Aufgabe dort aber als recht unproblematisch heraus, ist Terashima nämlich unerwartet still und macht ihm keinerlei Ärger. Überhaupt kommt er erstaunlich gut mit ihm aus, sodass die beiden zunehmend mehr miteinander reden und immer mehr Zeit miteinander verbringen.
