Makoto Okazakis Schulleben ist geprägt von Mobbing, scheinbar ein typischer Schwächling eben. Eines Nachts will er zur späten Stunde noch einem Freund eine ausgeliehene DVD zurückbringen. Es ist stockdunkel, da bemerkt er etwas auf dem nahen Dach eines Hauses. Doch bevor er überhaupt seine Situation realisieren kann, ist das »Ding« schon bei ihm und beißt ihm in den Nacken, um sein Blut zu trinken. Es ist ein schönes Mädchen. »Willst du leben und so wie ich werden oder willst du lieber sterben«, fragt sie ihn. Makoto will leben.
