Mit ihrem 13. Geburtstag erhält eine jede Hexe einen eigenen Vertrauten in Form einer sprechenden Katze, die ihr von da an ihr ganzes Leben lang zur Seite stehen soll. Doch kann sich nicht jede kleine Hexe von Anfang an so leicht mit ihrem neuen Begleiter anfreunden. So wollte Suzu eigentlich eine elegante schwarze Katze wie die ihrer Großmutter, muss bei der Beschwörungszeremonie jedoch missmutig feststellen, dass es sich bei ihrem so sehnlichst erwarteten Vertrauten um einen dicken gefleckten Kater handelt. Und auch ihre Freundinnen an der Hexenschule haben so mit ihren kleinen Problemen zu kämpfen, die alle mal mehr, mal weniger mit der Begegnung mit ihren Katzen zu tun haben.
