Lyra ist ein Mädchen, das ein ganz gewöhnliches Leben führt. Allerdings ist sie nicht glücklich, Lyra hat nämlich ein gebrochenes Herz. So führt ein Ereignis zum anderen und sie steht nun plötzlich inmitten der Welt der Sirenen. Im Fluch gefangen, kann sie nun nichts weiter tun, als ihren Alltag als Sirene weiterzuleben. Doch eine Sache scheint nicht ganz zu stimmen, denn außerhalb vom Wasser wird sie wieder zum Menschen. So lernt Lyra nach und nach, dass die Welt, in der sie lebt, viel größer ist als sie es je vermutet hätte.
