Das persönliche Schicksal von Cyborgs, jenen Wesen, die halb Mensch halb Maschine und somit zwischen zwei Welten hin und her gerissen sind, und ihr Konflikt, ihre fühlende und denkende Seite mit ihrer kalten und tödlichen zu vereinbaren, ist ein zentrales Thema in vielen Science Fiction-Action-Mangas. So auch in Cicatrice the Sirius von Shinichiro Takada. Sayoko Tachibana war früher ein ganz normales Mädchen, doch der Tod ihrer Eltern und vor allem der schreckliche Unfall ihres Bruders veränderte auf einmal alles. Denn um wenigstens Takeru zu retten, muss sie so schnell wie möglich eine große Summe Geld beschaffen, damit seine kostspielige Operation bezahlt werden kann. Sie hat keine andere Wahl, als ihr Gehirn zu verkaufen, welches in einen Cyborg-Körper verpflanzt wird … Von nun an nennt man sie die »Weiße 13« und ein neuer Arenakämpfer ist geboren, um für die organisierte Wettkriminalität in den blutigen Ring zu steigen. Einige Zeit später erringt sie den Rang einer »Sirius« und avanciert zum besten Kämpfer, den es je gab. Doch ihre menschliche Seite beginnt, langsam die Oberhand in ihr zu gewinnen und sie erkennt, was aus ihr geworden ist. Zusammen mit Takeru beschließt sie, der blutigen Arena den Rücken zu kehren und wieder als Mensch zu leben, doch dieser fromme Wunsch soll ihr nicht vergönnt sein …

La storia ha come protagonista Sayoko Takibana, una bambina che, rimasta orfana dei genitori, si ritrova con la responsabilità di assistere il fratello, gravemente malato. Per racimolare il denaro necessario alle costose cure, Sayoko "vende" il suo cervello affinché sia impiantato in un corpo meccanico da impiegare in spettacolari tornei di combattimento.
