Beim ersten bemannten Raketenstart der Japaner passiert ein furchtbares Unglück. Die Rakete stürzt auf eine kleine Stadt. Viele Menschen sterben oder werden schwer verletzt. So auch die Mutter der kleinen Asumi. Einige Jahre später stirbt Ihre Mutter nach langer Zeit im Krankenhaus. Nach ihrem Tod trifft Asumi einen Geist mit einem Löwenkopf den nur sie sehen kann. Dieser Geist scheint sehr viel über den Weltraum zu wissen. Asumi freundet sich mit diesem Geist an und hat seit diesem Zeitpunkt nur noch einen Berufswunsch: Astronautin.
