Tibet im 18. Jahrhundert: Der 13-jährige Kan Shiba arbeitet als Mediziner-Lehrling in einem kleinen beschaulichen Dorf in den Bergen. Eines Tages erhält dieses Besuch von einer Gruppe unbekannter Reisender, die den weiten Weg aus ihrer Heimat kamen, um Mosh Rati dorthin zu ihrem zukünftigen Ehemann zu begleiten. Sehr zur Überraschung von Kan Shiba stellt sich Rati jedoch schnell als ausgerechnet seine Braut heraus, die von nun an auch bei ihm und seiner Familie leben wird.

Für den Jungen, dessen Gedanken sich fast immer nur um Heilkräuter und Patientenklagen drehen und das Mädchen aus dem fernen, fremden Land beginnt damit ihr neues Leben als Paar.
