Shimizu Makoto hat es beruflich weit gebracht. Als Teamleiterin in der Entwicklungsabteilung eines Industrieunternehmens gilt sie unter ihren Kollegen als kompetent und verlässlich. Plötzlich steht ihr Maekawa gegenüber, eine jüngere Kollegin aus ihrer Abteilung. Reiner Zufall soll sie zu dieser Veranstaltung geführt haben, doch je mehr Makoto in der Folge mit der unbekümmerten Maekawa zu tun hat, desto mehr Zweifel kommen ihr, dass es wirklich nur Zufall war.
