Otakuland continúa la edición de obras del imprescindible Osamu Tezuka, en este caso con Oda a Kirihito, una obra humana y muy personal, que sin llegar al nivel de Adolf o Buda, es de lectura imprescindible.

Kirihito Osanai è un giovane medico, alle prese con una strana e misteriosa malattia che colpisce gli abitanti di Inugamisawa – un piccolo e sperduto villaggio di montagna – e il cui decorso modifica i lineamenti degli ammalati, rendendoli simili a cani o a procioni. Gli abitanti del villaggio, terrorizzati, sono persuasi che sul villaggio regni la maledizione di Monmo, uno spirito dalle sembianze canine, e chiamano la malattia morbo di Monmo; le autorità mediche sostengono ch’essa è dovuta a un virus che non si è diffuso al di fuori del villaggio a causa del suo isolamento; l’ipotesi di Kirihito è che si tratti di una endemia prodotta da agenti ambientali da indagare sul posto, e a tal scopo vi si reca. Così comincia il suo dramma umano che espone a tutti i mali della società: razzismo, vizio, arrivismo...
