Mehr als 3 Jahre lang hat Akira sein Geld gespart, um sich endlich einen Computer kaufen zu können. Da er allerdings nicht in der Lage ist, sein gewünschtes Modell zu bekommen, muss er sich an einen zwielichtigen Mann in einer Seitengasse wenden. Das nächste Ereignis sollte Akiras Leben von Grund auf verändern. Er hat nämlich nicht genau auf die Verpackung geachtet und deshalb nicht bemerkt, dass es sich nicht um Modell 9821, sondern um Modell 2198 handelt: Es ist ein fortgeschrittener weiblicher Roboter, dessen einzige Aufgabe es ist, seinem »Meister« zu dienen und ihn zu beschützen.
