Jinna Amakura war ein typischer Oberschüler. »War« – denn er starb bzw. sollte sterben, tat es aber nicht. Deshalb wird er von den höheren Mächten jetzt als »irreguläre Seele« betrachtet. Nagi, eine »Sensenfrau«, wird nun im Rahmen ihres ersten Auftrages auf Jinna angesetzt, um ihn zu töten und seine Seele damit in den vorgesehenen Kreislauf von Leben und Tod zurückzuführen. Versagt sie dabei, wird sie in ihre Lieblingssüßspeise verwandelt und von der Chefin der Todesengel aufgegessen. Schon der Beginn ihrer Mission misslingt allerdings komplett und in der Folge formen Nagi und Jinna ein geradezu freundschaftliches Verhältnis zueinander, was so gar nicht mit ihrem Auftrag zusammenpasst …
