Im unterirdischen Diamantenreich, in dem viele Rocara leben, ist das mysteriöse Pokémon Diancie die Herrscherin. Doch der Herzdiamant, der das Land zusammenhält, beginnt zu zerfallen und Diancie ist noch nicht stark genug, um einen neuen zu erschaffen. Während es die Hilfe des legendären Pokémon Xerneas aufsucht, trifft Diancie auf eine Gruppe von Dieben, die es für seine Kräfte, Diamanten zu produzieren, unter ihre Kontrolle bringen wollen. Dabei erwecken sie jedoch das legendäre Pokémon Yveltal aus seinem Kokon.

Nun ist es an Ash und seinen Freunden, Diancie zu helfen, seine wahre Macht zu entfesseln, Yveltals Amoklauf zu stoppen und das Diamantenreich zu retten.
