Bei »Girls Love: Shojo Bigaku« handelt es sich um locker miteinander in Beziehung stehende Geschichten rund um das Thema Liebe zwischen Mädchen. Die meisten dieser Geschichten spielen in der Welt reiner Mädchenschulen. Die Handlung orientiert sich an dem Grundthema, dass sich eine junge Frau ihrem weiblichen Idol zuwendet und sich in dieses verliebt, woraufhin Komplikationen und Verwirrung ob der gleichgeschlechtlichen Liebe folgen. Der Band thematisiert vorrangig die sexuelle Orientierungsphase heranwachsender Mädchen.
